New Jersey State Police recently charged three people for an alleged kidnapping and robbery, per social media. And it all began last December in Cumberland County. One evening a few days before Christmas, the purported victim left his home with a friend. During the departure, two masked men allegedly appeared. Brandishing handguns, the anonymous assailants accosted the victim and the friend. But they directed the friend to leave. And she complied. Nothing in the news release, however, indicates the friend reported any of this to police. Next, the men allegedly commanded the victim to hand over the cash in his possession. And he complied. Additionally, the aggressors allegedly forced the man to return into his home. And he complied. But the victim had no additional money to give the men. Bias Intimidation, N.J.S.A. 2c:16-1

Gunfire at a Jersey City kosher market recently left a police officer, two suspects, and three bystanders dead. Subsequently, the investigation revealed alleged online hate as the drifters’ motive. Perhaps unsurprisingly, officials adopted the label domestic terrorism for the violence, which began a mile away at a cemetery. After opening fire at the market, the pair held off armed police and federal officials for four hours with hundreds of rounds of ammunition, per the news.

Additionally, less than a week later, a Jersey City man allegedly threatened to “bomb all of the Jews” there. He made the alleged threats during a phone call with a welfare worker. Hazing and Aggravated Hazing, N.J.S.A. 2c:40-3

Did you ever get carried away with a group of friends, and later on you felt completely misunderstood? Authorities charged four members of the Arthur P. Schalick High School wrestling team with various offenses, per the news. They filed charges against the juveniles for aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Additionally, they filed charges for criminal restraint and conspiracy to commit criminal restraint. Furthermore, they filed charges for possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and conspiracy to possess a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Finally, they charged the wrestlers with unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy to unlawfully possess a weapon, and hazing. –

Witness Tampering, N.J.S.A. 2c:28-5

Do you know the expression snitches get stitches? Contrary to street knowledge, however, New Jersey authorities want to combat witness tampering. Indeed, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) investigators recently charged a Deal police officer with witness tampering and other offenses. But MCPO did not elaborate on the accusations. Instead, the authorities claim the investigation is ongoing. Additionally, the defendant is a fourteen year veteran cop. But this credential did not curry favor with the charging authorities. Instead, the county cops charged the local cop with witness tampering, conspiracy to possess cocaine, and possession of marijuana.
